I don't know about you, but I'm not a big fan of the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins. I read the first couple novels in the series, but my interest quickly waned. Also, if you're anything like me, you have at least one friend who is not only a fan of the series but he or she also firmly believes the rapture will one day really take place. Maybe he or she has even tried to show you the error of your ways. I'm not knocking the beliefs of anyone, but this video is hilarious!
This video, from Break.com, reminded me a lot of the Syfy channel's show Scare Tactics. It had me laughing for minutes. I can't imagine the fear in the girl's mind as she's working out the scenario, but I can imagine it being something like "Am I going to burn?" Wow. Enjoy.

Best Friend Ever.
Guys, would you wear a lime green dress to your friend's funeral? This story comes to us via The Chive.
Long time friends Barry Delaney and Kevin Elliott had a standing agreement that whichever of them were to pass away first, the other would wear a hot pink dress with green spots. When private Kevin Elliott died during his service in Afghanistan, best friend Barry Delaney kept the agreement as best he could, wearing a green dress instead with bright pink socks. That's real friendship.
To quote Barry:
“Kev was like my brother – we would have done anything for each other.
We said that whoever died first, the other one had to wear a pink dress with green spots to the funeral – and we shook on it. It was mainly his idea and the more I think about it, I’m sure Kevin knew something was going to happen.
I looked for the exact dress but couldn’t find one anywhere.
I eventually picked up the green one in Primark and bought the pink pop socks to make it look even sillier. It’s what Kev would have wanted.
Kev told his whole family about the pact, so I couldn’t back out. I had a word with him at the graveside and asked if he liked the color – I’m sure I could hear laughter coming out of the ground.
Kev was a true hero and someone I’m proud to call my best mate.”

Happy Wednesday!
I hope that everyone had a great long weekend for Labor Day; I know the wife and I enjoyed spending time with friends over the weekend, especially on Monday. We had some delicious food and wonderful gameplay with our friends here in Fayetteville. There's just nothing quite like chargrilled burgers and brats with fabulous Whole Hog's potato salad. Delicious! But, it's now Wednesday and that means it's a whole new set of beauties for the gandering, so enjoy as you finish up your work day!

WTF! Fridays
How is it that I always find these stories on news websites from the U.K. before I see it from a U.S. news source (and sometimes I only see it from the U.K. sources)? Either way, the picture below is the Mall of the Americas in Miami, FL. It looks like a nice enough place, and there seems to be a certain charm running about the place, right?
Who would have thought then that this mall would be the tragic location where a 43-year-old woman chose to set herself aflame. For roughly three minutes, shoppers watched in horror as the woman lit fire to herself, eventually suffering major third degree burns on over three quarters of her body as she walked around. Three others received minor injuries trying to aid in putting out the fire.
Of course this was a horrible incident, and I could never imagine becoming so desperate or depressed to do something like this to myself. However, I understand where she or someone else like her might come from...loneliness, depression, or self-loathing is not an easy topic to deal with on a personal level. In fact, many times, the very people we talk to and see on a daily basis may suffer quietly, not wanting to burden others.
But you see, that is exactly what friends and loved ones are for. Those are the few people with who you can be yourself. You can moan and groan and complain to them when no one else would want to listen. So, next time you're talking with someone, be a bit more sympathetic and smile or go a bit out of your way to show a small bit of kindness.

Word of the Day: Bivouac
- Pronunciation: \ˈbi-və-ˌwak, ˈbiv-ˌwak\
- Etymology: French, from Low German biwacht, from bi by + wacht guard
- Date: 1819
So, I was talking about favorite poems today with some friends when read his which contained the word 'bivouac' in one of the stanzas. Since I did not know the word, I looked it up via Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary. As we were chatting, another friend suggested looking for a picture to help in visualizing the definition. This was the first picture, and it is definitely not a bivouac where I would want to sleep. Looks fun though!
