Blind Man Can See Again...Through Tooth

There's quite a bit of odd news coming out of the United Kingdom today, but then, I usually read their news more often than that the U.S. papers because, well, I actually want to know what's going on around the world.

Either way, here's a great article from the Daily Mail Online explaining how a man who went blind on the job from a splash of molten aluminum can now see thanks to a rare medical procedure. The procedure, which "uses the segment of tooth as a holder for a new lens grafted from his skin," has been performed less than 50 times in Britain. I'm just astonished at what doctors can do these days with just a bit of skin and a tooth...it's even better than MacGyver!

Seriously though, I can't wait until stem cells are introduced for surgical use. There will be loads of developments and new procedures derived from those cells. Hopefully the United States will get on the band wagon and increase R & D funds for stem cell labs. Anyway, before I forget, I've included the depicted explanation of the surgery from the Daily Mail's site. Enjoy!
